Young Adults Program (Year 2)

Virlanie is a Philippine non-profit organization based in Manila, whose primary aim is to offer young people and children living in the street the means of getting out this extreme poverty and its ill-treatment (drug, sexual exploitation), to lead a stable, spread and independent life. The Accor Foundation proposes to the children not only an accommodation, a psychological and medical follow-up, educational, artistic and sports activities, but also a set of activities destined to improve their professional skills and their autonomy.

At the request of Bernd Schneider, managing director of Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, the Accor Foundation is supporting the Young Adults Program (YAP) for a second year. The YAP is a training center for young people living on the streets of Manila, which aims to encourage them to take responsibility for their personal and professional development and live an independent life. This training helps the young people adopt behavior compatible with the world of work (life skills), provides them with the practical and professional skills they need (know-how) and advises them on finding a job.
General courses (English, mathematics, etc.) and professional guidance (CV, job-seeking workshops, etc.) are offered, together with company visits. With the help of the supervisory team, the young people put together a professional objectives plan which they present at the end of the training course to companies that may be able to offer them a job.

This project belongs to the "Training & Integration" category.

Foundation grant: €12,000.
