Sharing experience and traditional know-how
Tuhuka is a French association that implements, supports and coordinates initiatives that promote the development and safeguard the art and culture of the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. Hubert Clément, Manager of the ibis Centr’Alès, is the association’s president.
Following the success of initiatives in 2009, the Accor Foundation is supporting the Tuhuka association’s trip to France from June 21 to July 10, 2010. On this occasion Marquesans will share their experiences and traditional know-how. The trip will include several activities and notably meetings between Marquesan sculptors and members of “Les Compagnons du devoir” (French guild of crafts and professions) and between Marquesan tree farmers and candied fruit makers in Apt. The sharing of experience and transfer of know-how will enable the Marquesans to promote and improve their traditional local techniques.
This is a “Local Know-How” project.
The Foundation’s contribution: €7,000.
