SOS Children's Villages Douala
Construction of a school canteen for the community's children
For over a year, staff members from the Ibis Douala hotel have been helping the SOS Children's villages with animation of all sorts and awareness-raising initiatives.
The purpose of this organization is to allow brothers and sisters who cannot live with their parents to experience the joy of growing up together in a family atmosphere. They are cared for by an “SOS mother”, who raises them until they become autonomous. These mothers offer the stable emotional and educational surroundings children need for their development.
Ibis employees had identified the lack of a place where the children could have their meals together: with technical help from the Technical Director for Africa, they worked for several months together with the SOS team to plan the school canteen. Accor corporate Foundation has decided to help them by allocating 22,000 euros to achieve their project.
This project is within the scope of "Humanitarian and Emergency".
