Support to set up a science workshop
Perkins is an American NGO founded in 1829, involved in training and integration of young people with mental, visual and hearing problems. Based in the USA, Perkins supports 90,000 young people in 61 countries. In June 2009, Accor Services USA launched a volunteer program aimed at the 45 employees of the Watertown head office, located two kilometers from a Perkins School. Over a one-year period, employees will be donating some of their free time to support these young people with disabilities.
Contacted by Sara Gyllstrom, Accor Services commercial director at the Accor Services head office in Watertown, the Accor Foundation is supporting installation of a science workshop for young people aged from 15 to 30. The goal of this workshop is to develop the young people's technical and tactile capacities through a training program that is validated at the end of the year by a national "English Language Arts and Mathematics" diploma (high-school level)
This project belongs to the "Training & Integration" category.
Foundation grant: €3,330 (US$5,000).
