Giving young people from favelas training in construction

“Building Dreams” is a pilot program established by the Argentine architect’s trade association to help young motivated people from underprivileged environments gain access to construction and building activities.

Within the program, Accor corporate Foundation supports the training for 10 young men aged 25 to 30, unemployed and belonging to the same community from underprivileged areas of Buenos Aires. Rodolfo Real, HR analyst, Accor Services Argentina, locally coordinates the project.

The pilot program is outlined in two sections over six months: theory (masonry, electricity, plumbing, etc.) and practice (young people go into their neighbourhood and renovate inhabitants’ houses and public facilities).

Young people graduating from the course are listed in the association’s database and in turn become trainers for other young people from underprivileged neighbourhoods.

This project is within the scope of “Training & Insertion”.
