Artistic creation and design workshop
Arcade is a Burgundy-based non-profit organization set up in 1986 around two objectives: to restore the Château de Sainte-Colombe and create a meeting place revolving around design in this château located in a rural area. To showcase the monument itself and the artistic heritage of Burgundy, Arcade has also, since 1987, been organizing events at the château: concerts, exhibitions and shows, etc. and among these events, 3 exhibitions a year around design, craft industry and art professions.
So, a Made in Bourgogne exhibition is organized every autumn, with a specific theme: metal in 2008, wood in 2009, and, in 2010, an exhibition focusing on stone crafts.
To showcase traditional Burgundy stone through a contemporary approach, Arcade has set up an artistic creation and research workshop with the help of the Accor Foundation. This workshop brings together the young Paris designer, David des Moutis, with a local company, Scandola, which specializes in restoration of architectural heritage and the stone-mason's craft. They are working together with Burgundy stone, with an emphasis on experimentation and exploration. Drawing on this collaborative approach, David des Moutis is working on a design object, the prototype of which will be shown at the Made in Bourgogne exhibition as of 18 September 2010.
The project leader is Stéphane Rousseau, director of HR projects for Pullman, MGallery, Ibis and IHMP (Evry).
This project belongs to the "Local know-how" category.
Foundation grant: €10,000.
