Focus on Sport dans la Ville
Establishing a presence in sensitive neighbourhoods in and around Lyons, and cementing children’s reading and writing skills with edu-taining activities
Carole Cursio, Regional employment delegate, region of Rhône-Alpes.
Sport dans la Ville promotes sports as a vector of social and professional insertion, through the development of sports centres in difficult neighbourhoods and the organization of sports animations.
Since 2006, about 10 Accor employees from Lyons have been working with organization Sport dans la Ville, by sponsoring young people and participating in football tournaments. To answer the request of our Lyons employees, the Accor Foundation finances the “Apprenti’bus” program.
« Apprenti’Bus »: a new literacy help program based on a mobile bus which offers reading and writing workshops every evening of the week for more than 100 young people in the Lyons area.
The bus parks in different hotpots around Lyons from 5.30 to 7.30 pm four days a week. The young students enrol for the workshop of their choice, games to sharpen their reading and writing skills or teamwork project (the Apprenti’Bus newspaper), and get one-to-one and family support.
