Humanitarian and emergency
Focus on Planète Urgence
Organising Accor group employee transport on humanitarian assignments.
Several employees of the Accor group (Lenôtre Production Laboratory, Accor headquarter…).
Planète Urgence was created in 2000 by former members of humanitarian organizations. It fosters international solidarity by encouraging the involvement of companies in developing countries. In order to do this, it organises and supervises the sending of employees on sporadic humanitarian assignments that take place during their paid leave. Planète Urgence has developed skills that enable non-specialists involved in international solidarity missions to carry out effective and useful assignments. Since its creation, the association has sent over 4,000 volunteers on assignments (or the equivalent of over 260,000 working hours).
Because of increasing requests by employees to invest their own free time, the Accor Foundation now offers employees the opportunity of taking solidarity leave. Employees in France (in Odyssey and Evry) will be able to take a fortnight’s solidarity leave to take part in assignments involving the transfer of skills and the training of adults. The objective of these assignments is to improve the skills of local populations by transferring the employees’ know-how to local beneficiaries, notably women.
