Mutual de Arquitectos is an architect’s trade association which aim is to help young motivated people from underprivileged environments gain access to construction and building activities.

Mutual de Arquitectos

This association established the pilot program “Building Dreams” which aims to help young people aged from 25 to 30, unemployed and belonging to the same community from underprivileged environments gain access to construction and building activities. The project’s objective is to train 10 men to find work.

The program is outlined in two sections over six months:

  • theory: with 384 hours of masonry, electricity, plumbing course…;
  • practice: young people go into their neighbourhood and renovate inhabitants’ houses and public facilities.

Young people graduating from the course are listed in the association’s database and in turn become trainers for other young people from underprivileged neighbourhoods.
