Focus on Cruz Roja Española
Allow the training and labour insertion of young women in difficulty.
Nathalia Noguera, Project Director, Design and Technical Services, Accor Spain.
Cruz Roja Española is a Spanish association that was created in 1864. Its mission is to be as close as possible to vulnerable people through social, medico-social and training actions. It has 187,000 volunteers and 10,000 employees and supports over 1,300,000 people.
The unemployment rate in Spain (20.4%) is currently much higher than the European average (9.9%), with a peak in the 20-30-year age group, where it affects nearly 40% of young people.
Faced with this reality, Cruz Roja Española helps in this project people who have problems finding a job by developing professional training programmes. In 2012, it will implement the “Invirtiendo en su futuro” programme, in which 80 young women in difficulty will be introduced to and trained in service professions.
The training programme will be broken down into 3 phases:
- Theoretical training (1 week professional guidance): training workshops to learn key skills for the professions targeted by this programme (80 women).
- Hands-on training (2 months): training in 9 Accor hotels participating in the programme (Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Seville and Bilbao). (18 women)
- Follow up: Cruz Roja will follow up on the 18 women to help them find jobs in the hotel gastronomy sector in Spain with different companies. Usage of the Red Cross database.
