Focus on Club Entreprises et Commerces Paris 19
Helping 23 young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods find long-term employment.
Benoît Labat, Developer, France Development and franchise Team.
This programme is run by 2 structures:
- Club Entreprises et Commerces Paris 19 is a French association created in 2005. One of its aims is to actively contribute to the social development of the region by helping build bridges between businesses and stores in the 19th arrondissement and local residents.
- Insidens is a sustainable development laboratory that assists businesses, institutions and local authorities in research programmes aiming to develop socially and environmentally responsible models.
In Paris, the percentage of job-seekers in the 19th arrondissement is significantly higher than the Paris average: 11.3% versus 8.6%. Ten percent of these job-seekers are under the age of 25 years, which is the highest rate in the capital. Faced with this reality, Club Entreprises et Commerce Paris 19 and Insidens decided to develop the “Objectif Emploi 19” programme, which assists 23 young people in difficulty in the 19th arrondissement with their professional and social integration. Thirty business owners from the 19th arrondissement are also participants in the programme.
Objectives:
- help these young people define a career plan thanks to advice from local economic players;
- use the network of business owners so that these young people find jobs that are compatible with their plans;
- raise the awareness of young people and business owners regarding the other group’s “world”;
- change social views of the young people in the neighbourhood.
This programme will run from November 2011 to April 2012 and is divided into several workshops: oral expression workshops, writing workshops, two-person workshops and group workshops.
These various workshops are opportunities for the young people to define their career plans and be put into contact with a sponsor from the corporate world who will help them with procedures.
