Association

Amor em Cristo is an association created in April 2001. Its objective is to take in disadvantaged young people and provide them with schooling, social assistance and meals, plus training in various activities that will help them develop professional skills. The association is located in the favela of Sorocaba.

Project

The Accor Foundation is supporting the “Design of Digital and Social Inclusion” computer training course for disadvantaged young people from the Sorocaba favela.

In 2009-2010, the Amor em Cristo association ran a pilot computer training course for 120 young people from 10 to 16 years-old, enabling them to acquire basic computing skills.

In 2011, the Accor Foundation sought to widen the scope of this project for young people, but also and most importantly for their parents so they can also find work thanks to computing.  The second edition of this project focuses on improving professional insertion: the association has acquired new computers that the young people will be able to use for their job search.  The Amor em Cristo center has therefore taken on the role of regional employment agency.
