Focus on Acta Vista
People in precarious situations refurbishing listed monuments : « Des chantiers d’insertion au service du Patrimoine » (“projects for integration and heritage”).
Loïc Fauchille, General Manager of Marseilles Vieux Port Sofitel.
The Acta Vista association was created in 2001 and specializes in restoring and enhancing national heritage buildings. It uses its know-how and expertise to train disadvantaged people and foster their professional integration. Acta Vista is active throughout the PACA region in Southern France and recruits over 300 marginalized people every year.
The Accor Foundation is funding the renovation of the Fort Saint-Nicolas gunpowder factory located on the edge of the Old Port of Marseilles and in front of the Sofitel Marseilles Vieux Port.
Three integration-project teams joined forces to refurbish this Fort – which involved hiring 53 people on the fringes of the job market, and training them in stone-cutting, stonework specifically applied to listed monuments and heritage, and modern techniques and materials, for 6 to 12 months. At the end of their training, they obtain an Old-Build Mason diploma. The association also provides social assistance, help with finding work, training and technical supervision.
Work on the gunpowder factory will be carried out from 2010 to December 2013.
In 2010, the Accor Foundation took part in the first phase of the work, funding the training and support of 53 employees in professional integration programmes.
In view of the project’s positive results and the rising number of employees on the site, the Accor Foundationcontinues its support in 2011 for the second phase of the work. The 2011 project will allow 45 disadvantaged persons to be integrated.
