Association

ACLEFEU is a French association that has been working since 2005 to rekindle bonds in inner cities between young people and their families, the local population, the authorities and the business world. Their first local initiative was a friendly debate (“café-débat”) organized in 2009.

Project

ACLEFEUThe Accor Foundation is supporting ACLEFEU’s “Oxygène” project since 2009. This project is a scheme that offers young people and their families the opportunity of a summer holiday away from their inner city estates, in a bid to rekindle family bonds.

18 families set off for Vendée in July 2009 thanks to this project (6 families at a time, for 10 days, in 3 waves). The Foundation contributed to their holiday (especially to the city tours, entertainment, tourist sites and other cultural attractions).

In 2010, this association treated 20 families to breaks in Vendée from 3 July to 7 August, including several cultural and tourist activities such as guided tours to a water park, a visit to the Puy du Fou amusement park, sports activities, tourist sites, and more.

These activities are designed to stress the importance of “family time”. ACLEFEU also encourages families to take part in a variety of workshops (good citizenship, education for young children, adult literacy…).

In 2011, ACLEFEU renews this project for the 3rd consecutive year. 18 families in difficulty will leave for Vendée from 2 July till 6 August. Besides the usual workshops, ACLEFEU set up, for the 3rd project, a “workshop of autonomy and financial management”. This workshop aims at supporting families in their management to reduce their financial difficulties and help them to become autonomous.
